Southbury Teleport

Southbury began operation in 1975 as part of CGC, at it was an ideal location to provide service to its Marisat and Comstar satellite programs. Surrounded by rolling hills, the Southbury location sits within a natural bowl that shields the station from terrestrial transmissions systems sharing common frequencies. Southbury is within a quiet location where sources of RF noise are minimized. With direct access to the Connecticut’s largest hydroelectric dam, Shepaug, Southbury is assured clean and reliable electrical power.

The facility occupies more than 6 acres/25,497 Sq. M, operates 14 antennas, and also serves a Telemetry, Tracking and Control (TT&C)l services hub.

The station is equipped and staffed to provide continuous operation, even during severe weather.
