Satellite Direct puts the power of calling vessels at sea in your hands while leaving more of your money in your pocket.
Cut out the middle-man and save on your shore-to-ship calls
When you make a call via satellite, your call is first routed through your local telecom operator's set-up either through a local Land Earth Station or to a Land Earth Station in another country, based on the routing agreements between the operators of the two countries. Many telephone operators tack on a substantial add-on to the rate for this type of connection.
Satellite Direct
With Satellite Direct, you call directly to a Land Earth Station and thus pay only the normal landline rate your operator charges for calls the country the Land Earth Station is located in. In addition, there are special access numbers in many countries* (
click here for full list). This means that calls originating in these countries cost even less since no international calling rate applies**.
Using Satellite Direct with a Prepaid Calling Card
It's also possible to place Satellite Direct calls using Marlink's Prepaid Calling Cards and the Super Quiet Time Card. No registration is required. Just

Services
- Terminal access: make voice, low-speed data and telefax connections to Inmarsat- B, M, mini-M, Fleet F77 and GAN terminals. Satellite Direct can also be used for High Speed Data (HSD) with Inmarsat-B, Fleet F77 and GAN.
- Call-Line Identification (CLI): If your telephone number is forwarded to Norway, it can be used as verification, eliminating the need to enter your pin-code. CLI verification is required for Inmarsat-B and GAN HSD. CLI is not available with operators in all countries.
- Quick-dial: if you often dial the same terminals we can provide you with a quick-dial feature. Instead of having to dial the whole Inmarsat number you simply dial a short code. You, as customer, maintain the quick-dial numbers yourself.
Special notes
- The international access prefix and the ocean region prefix starting with 87 can be skipped. Dial 0 for the ocean region and then the Inmarsat number. Inmarsat-A customers need to dial 1, 2, 3, or 4 for the desired ocean region.
- The local access numbers cannot be used for Inmarsat-B and GAN HSD.
