Marlink Seeking Field Engineer - Hamburg

Field Engineer
The Field Engineer will be the Marlink Field Service resource in Europe, working out of Marlink's Hamburg office. You will be responsible for: - Installing, servicing and maintaining satellite communications systems onboard customer vessels in port and at sea.
- Supporting the local sales and customer support staff with technical issues in their daily operation.
- Assembly, testing and repair of satellite equipment.
- Providing technical helpdesk support via phone and e-mail.
- Arranging and coordinating service calls with other Marlink departments and customers.
- Setting up IT systems and LAN on board customer vessels to work with our satellite terminals.
- Travel extensively to customer sites/vessels - often on short notice. 175 travel days per year. When not in the field, the Field Engineer will work from the Hamburg office.
Requirements: - Bachelor or preferably Master's Degree in Electronics/Telecom/IT from University, College or other institution of higher education.
- 2-4 years as a Field Service Engineer with experience in installation and maintenance of communication electronics systems and equipment.
- Prior knowledge about satellite communication and terminals.
- An in-depth knowledge of C-Band and Ku-Band VSAT satellite systems is desirable (SeaTel antennas).
- Demonstrate technical knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Able to learn and adapt to new issues and handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment,
- Must be fluent in English and preferably other international languages.
- Experience from serving multinational customers.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment, climb into confined antenna spaces, and climb pilot ladders.
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and adherence to practices, procedures, and scheduling deadlines.
- Should be familiar with working in the marine electronics environment on cruise ships, yachts, and industrial vessels.
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Computer skills are essential - IP and network.
- Capability to work worldwide, both independently and in cooperation with others under a high workload.
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules, including evening and weekends.
Due to significant travel requirements, applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, passport, and sufficient means of financial credit, i.e. credit cards. The work is physically challenging and applicants must be in good physical shape.
