Fleet 77 provides the most advanced mobile satellite communications service available to seafarers needing high-speed communications and enhanced safety at sea
Applications
Fleet 77 offers two-way global satellite communications with improved spectrum efficiency for low-speed Voice and Fax communications and high-speed transmissions of Speech, Audio and Data (up to 128 kbps). Fleet 77's Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) makes it possible to make greater use of Internet applications while incurring costs only on the amount of data transferred. Its Mobile ISDN service is well-suited for applications requiring greater bandwidth and size of files.

Safety
When paired with an Inmarsat-C terminal, Fleet 77 meets the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) criteria for Global Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS) by providing pre-emption and voice prioritization for five levels of priorities: distress, urgency, safety, and routine (personal and business) communications. GMDSS has been compulsory for all passenger and merchant ships over 300 DWT since 1999.
