Eik Teleport

Eik was established in 1976 to provide communications to the North Sea oil platforms. In February 1982, Eik became operational in the Inmarsat system and the first earth station in Europe to provide Inmarsat service. Eik covers the Atlantic Ocean Region East and West (AOR-E/AOR-W), and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The facility occupies 10 acres/40,468 Sq. M, and serves as a hub for Sealink services as well as a Telemetry, Tracking and Control (TT&C) services hub for the Thor II and III satellites.  The Eik facility operates a SS7 link with the two other teleports to provide a network for global coverage.
