Field Engineers - Maritime Telecommunication Systems
Marlink’s global Field Services team is in constant development,
and is looking for candidates in several of our locations. Our Field
Engineers perform installations, upgrades, corrective and preventive
maintenance and other services on board our customers’ vessels
worldwide.
Job description:
-
Installing, servicing and maintaining satellite communications systems onboard customer vessels in ports, at yards and at sea.

Extensive travel to customer sites/vessels worldwide - often on short notice. Estimated 175 travel days per year.

Assembly, testing and repair of satellite equipment.

Setting up IT systems and LAN on board customer vessels along with our satellite terminals.

Documentation work related to customer installations and services
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electronics/Telecoms/IT from University, College or other similar institution.

Experience in installation and maintenance of electronics, communication systems and equipment would be an advantage, but new graduates are also candidates for the job

Prior knowledge about satellite communication, e.g. C-Band and Ku-Band VSAT satellite systems is desirable.

Must be fluent in English and preferably one other language, and must be motivated by the challenge of serving multinational customers
Skills and attitude:
-
Must be willing and able to learn and adapt to new issues and handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and adherence to practices, procedures, and scheduling deadlines.

Experience of working with marine electronics would be an advantage (but is not essential).

Must be able to lift heavy equipment, climb into confined antenna spaces, and climb pilot ladders.

Proficiency with MS Office products.

Must enjoy travelling and work worldwide, both independently and in cooperation with others under a high workload. Estimated 175 travel days per year.

Must be flexible to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends.
