Inmarsat Mini-M provides digital satellite communication for voice, fax (2.4 Kbps), data (2.4 Kbps) and Internet access, using SIM-card technology.
Although specifically adapted to meet the needs of operators of commercial vessels, Inmarsat Mini-M systems are also available for other types of remote users such as disaster relief, up country farms, mines, survey sites, journalists and refinery or pipeline operations.
Equipment
The basic Inmarsat Mini-M system comprises an antenna, a transceiver, a telephone handset and cradle. It acts as an integrated communication centre, providing links to phones, fax machines and computer networks.
