Applications
Inmarsat C offers digital satellite communications for: store and forward telex, store and forward data, e-mail via Internet broadcast facility (Enhanced Group Call) and fleet tracking (Polling and Data Reporting)

The small and relatively inexpensive Inmarsat C terminals represent by far the largest number of Inmarsat terminals currently in the system. Its size, with a small antenna that is easily mounted atop a radar mast, makes it perfect for use on small vessels.

E-mail & SMS
The highly successful service, Inmarsat C E-mail, makes it possible to send e-mail directly to and from your Inmarsat C terminal. You can also send SMS using Inmarsat C SMS.

Polling and broadcasts
Inmarsat C is ideal for Fleet Tracking (Polling and Data Reporting). Mobile terminals can be programmed to report information, either at fixed intervals or in response to a poll request.

Inmarsat C also supports Broadcast (Enhanced Group Calls), a cost-efficient way to send messages to all or parts of your fleet.

Safety (GMDSS) and Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS)
The Inmarsat C system is approved by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for the Global Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). GMDSS has been compulsory for all passenger and merchant ships over 300 DWT since 1999.
