Inmarsat C E-mail

Send e-mail to and from ships via Inmarsat-C terminals without any investment in special software

The Inmarsat C E-mail service provides the "missing link" necessary for maritime use of Internet messaging, without any special software investment.

Shore-to-ship
To send e-mail via Inmarsat C from shore to ship, all you need is a computer with Internet access and standard Internet e-mail software. No additional software is required. All that is necessary is that you register with Marlink.

Sending e-mail shore to ship
Address the e-mail to:
mobile-number@internet-c.com

Example address:
492421540@internet-c.com

The service also handles attachments. You do not even need to know where the mobile recipient is. We will locate the recipient and deliver the mail.

Ship to shore
Sending e-mail from ship to shore is even easier than the other way around. You do not need an Internet connection nor any additional software. You do not even have to register. You can send e-mail directly from your Inmarsat C terminal, using short code 28.

Sending e-mail ship to shore
Insert the e-mail address in the Inmarsat C message, and it will be delivered to the recipient via Vizada's satellite link.

The Inmarsat C E-mail user site
Visit the Inmarsat C E-mail user site for more information on cost control. You will also find price calculators for SMS and e-mail sent over Inmarsat C as well as downloadable registration forms and user guides.

Reverse Charging
Marlink offers Reverse Charging on the Inmarsat C E-mail service. Reverse charging means that the terminal owner can decide to pay for messages sent to his terminal originating from the Internet. To do so, the customer service at Marlink must be contacted and the terminal registered as Internet Receiver. The terminal owner can optionally supply one or more address filters that define which Internet users are allowed to send messages on his account. Optionally the terminal owner can add traffic thresholds to his account. The threshold is defined as the maximum number of bytes allowed to be sent per message (including attachments), day, week or month.

Fleet Tracking and Broadcast
Inmarsat C E-mail supports Fleet Tracking (polling and data reporting) and Broadcast (Enhanced Group Calls). Registered users can send Fleet Tracking and Broadcast commands, and receive the replies at their Internet address. You can also choose to have data reports forwarded to your Internet address.
